Flomist Nasal Spray is utilized to manage symptoms of both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis, a condition characterized by the swelling of the nasal lining and the release of fluid, leading to a congested and runny nose. Each spray administers Fluticasone Propionate IP 50 mcg, and the bottle provides a total of 100 metered doses.

 

Flomist Nasal Spray contains Fluticasone Propionate, a synthetic steroid belonging to the glucocorticoid class of medications used for treating nasal allergic reactions. Fluticasone imitates cortisol or hydrocortisone, hormones naturally produced by the adrenal glands. Although the precise mechanism of fluticasone's action is not fully understood, it is known to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. It is thought that fluticasone achieves its positive effects by inhibiting various cells and substances that play a role in allergic, immune, and inflammatory reactions. When administered as a nasal spray, the medication is directly delivered to the nasal lining, with minimal absorption into the systemic circulation.

 

Flomist Nasal Spray should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding when absolutely necessary.

 

Potential side effects of Flomist Nasal Spray (Fluticasone Propionate) include headache, throat infections, nasal irritation, sneezing, coughing, nausea, vomiting, and nosebleeds.

 

Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, itching, facial swelling, and anaphylaxis could occur. There is a risk of growth suppression in some children using fluticasone.
